Literary Context
This line comes right after the opening greeting and blessing (vv. 1–3) and works as a warm bridge into the letter’s later requests and warnings. The writer has already emphasized shared love “in truth” and a common bond between writer and recipients. Now he points to concrete evidence: he has observed or learned that some of the children are “walking” in that truth. That affirmation prepares for the next moves in the letter, where “truth” will be tied to practical obedience and community boundaries.
