Literary Context
This verse sits in a short narrative (Isaiah 39) that follows the crisis and deliverance material of Isaiah 36–38 and functions as a turning point toward the later sections of the book. In the immediate scene, Isaiah questions Hezekiah after foreign envoys have visited. The questioning moves from general (“What did they say?” and “From where did they come?” earlier in the chapter) to specific (“What have they seen in your house?” here), narrowing the focus onto what Hezekiah chose to display. The king’s answer completes the set-up for Isaiah’s next words.
