Literary Context
Psalm 128 belongs to a cluster of “Songs of Ascents” (Psalms 120–134), short poems associated with communal travel and worship. Within the psalm, verse 1 sets the topic by describing the person who fears the LORD and walks in his ways; verse 2 then gives the first benefit in direct, second-person speech. The rest of the psalm expands the picture from the worker’s table to household fruitfulness and public peace, moving from personal provision to family and community stability.
