2) What “on their beds” highlights. Some take it as a general picture of private life and daily rhythms (praise not limited to gatherings). Others hear a more specific setting: nighttime wakefulness, anxiety, or even sickness—praise that continues when people are confined and still.

3) How broad “saints” is in practice. Many read it as all faithful Israelites (the covenant-keeping community). Others think the psalm may especially have in view those publicly active in worship or those particularly identified with loyalty to God, even if the term still belongs to the community’s vocabulary.

Why the disagreement exists The verse itself is compact and poetic. It does not spell out the cause or timing of the “honor,” and “beds” can serve as a broad symbol for private space or a more pointed reference to night and vulnerability. Because Psalm 149 also moves toward themes of communal victory later in the psalm, readers differ on how much of that later emphasis they import back into verse 5.
