Literary Context
Psalm 24 moves from God’s ownership of the world (vv. 1–2), to the kind of person fit to approach the holy place (vv. 3–6), and then to a dramatic entry liturgy (vv. 7–10). Verse 7 opens the final scene with a summons to the gates, setting up the call-and-response questions that follow about the identity of the king (vv. 8–10).
