Literary Context
Psalm 41 moves between describing the value of showing care for the weak and portraying the speaker’s own experience of trouble, including illness and hostile talk from enemies. Verse 4 is a tight, first-person prayer set within that larger complaint: after broader observations, the voice narrows to what the speaker himself said to God in his suffering. The logic is simple: address God by name, ask for mercy, ask for healing, and acknowledge wrongdoing against God as part of the situation the speaker is living through.
