When the oxen stumbled, Uzza reached out his hand to hold the ark, and God struck him there because he put his hand to the ark (1 Chronicles 13:9–10). The passage says he died before God at that place (1 Chronicles 13:10).
9When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and he struck him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.
