Leviticus / Question
Question source
Leviticus
Leviticus forbids Aaron and his sons from drinking wine or strong drink when they go into the tent of meeting, with death stated as the penalty. The stated purpose is to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean. It also connects to teaching Israel the LORD’s statutes (Leviticus 10:8–11).
8Yahweh spoke to Aaron, saying,
9Drink no wine nor strong drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, that you don`t die: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations:
10and that you may make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;
11and that you may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Yahweh has spoken to them by Moses.
