Romans 15 says Scripture produces endurance, encouragement, and hope by teaching God's people how to live together under Christ. In conflict, Scripture should form patience and welcome, not simply provide ammunition for winning arguments.
Paul is addressing strong and weak believers and calls them to bear with one another. He points to Christ's self-giving example and to Scripture's role in forming hope.
This gives congregations a better use of the Bible in disagreement. Scripture trains communities toward endurance, encouragement, unity, and worship.
should not detach Romans 15:4 from Romans 15:1-7. The hope Scripture gives is meant to shape how believers receive one another.
