In the Greco-Roman world, a crucified savior was considered foolishness and a stumbling block (1 Cor 1:23). It was a shameful way to die, reserved for slaves and rebels. Yet Paul is unashamed because this very message is the 'power of God for salvation.' What the world sees as weakness, God uses to save.
