Righteousness
Theological Definition
In Scripture, righteousness is the state of being right with God and aligned with what is right, faithful, and just. The Bible speaks of God’s righteousness as his consistent commitment to what is right, including keeping his promises and addressing evil. It also speaks of people being “counted” or treated as righteous in connection with faith, and of righteous living as the fruit of belonging to God.
