Literary Context
Zechariah 10 sits within a larger set of promises and warnings that contrast failed leadership with Yahweh’s renewed care for his people. The chapter begins by urging the people to seek provision from Yahweh rather than empty sources, then moves into speech about how Yahweh will act on behalf of his flock. Verse 5 continues an earlier battle image in the same unit, developing the idea that Yahweh’s people will be enabled to stand firm and overcome stronger forces. The focus is not tactics but the reason they prevail: Yahweh’s presence.
