While they sit and eat, a word from comes to the older prophet who had brought the man of God back.
vv. 21–22
He calls out to the man of God from Judah and states the charge: he turned back and ate and drank in the forbidden place. The consequence is stated as exclusion from his ancestral tomb.
v. 23
After the meal, the older prophet provides a donkey and sends him on his way, setting up the next scene on the road.
