Elijah finds Elisha and marks him out Elijah leaves from where he had been and comes upon Elisha son of Shaphat while he is plowing. The detail of “twelve yoke” places Elisha within a large-scale farming operation, and he himself is working with the last team. Elijah’s decisive act is to pass by and throw his mantle on Elisha, a visible sign that initiates a change in Elisha’s direction.
