8:41-43Meaning
The foreigner who prays toward the temple Solomon turns “moreover” to a non-Israelite who comes from a distant country because of God’s reputation. The foreigner has heard of God’s “great name,” “mighty hand,” and “outstretched arm,” and then prays facing the temple. Solomon asks God to hear from heaven and to do what the foreigner asks, with a stated purpose: that all earth’s peoples would know God’s name, fear him as Israel does, and recognize that the temple is identified with God’s name.
