He spreads out his hands, and the narrator adds detail: Solomon has set up a bronze platform in the middle of the court, stands on it, then kneels, still with hands spread “toward heaven.” The movement highlights both visibility (everyone can see) and humility (kneeling), while the hands and upward direction portray an appeal to the God who is not contained by the scene.
