Warfare involved raids, fortified settlements, and sudden engagements, which fits language about charging a troop and scaling walls. Socially, the text contrasts “afflicted” people with “haughty” ones, reflecting a community where power and status could be abused and where a king’s survival depended on alliances, military skill, and perceived divine support.
