Literary Context
This verse closes the longer exchange in Acts 11:1–18, where Peter is called to account for entering a Gentile home and eating with them. Peter recounts the vision about formerly unclean foods, the Spirit’s direction to go without hesitation, and the Spirit’s coming upon Gentiles in a way that matched earlier experiences among Jewish believers. The argument moves from contested behavior (“you went in and ate”) to narrated evidence (“God acted”) to a final communal verdict. Acts then transitions to the spread of the movement beyond Judea, with Antioch soon becoming prominent (Acts 11:19–26).
