Why the disagreement exists The passage uses concrete but flexible language (“when you begin,” “of your hand,” “according as… blesses you”) while also assuming a shared festival at a central place. That combination invites questions about how a whole people synchronizes harvest time and how a “freewill” gift can still be meaningfully calibrated to blessing.
