23:10-11Meaning
Six years of cultivation, seventh-year release for others The people are told to sow and gather crops for six years. In the seventh year they must stop working the land and leave it unused. The stated purpose is social and ecological sharing: the poor among them are to eat what the land produces, and whatever remains is available to wild animals. The same rule applies beyond grain fields to perennial crops like vineyards and olive groves.
