News that Joseph’s brothers have arrived becomes known in Pharaoh’s house; Pharaoh and his servants react with approval.
vv. 17–18
Pharaoh instructs Joseph to send the brothers back to Canaan, then to return with their father and households; he promises them “the good of the land” () of Egypt.
v. 19
Pharaoh orders that wagons be taken from Egypt to transport children and wives and to bring Jacob and come ().
v. 20
They are told not to be concerned about possessions left behind, because Egypt’s best resources will be available to them.
