A directed meeting at a strategic place Yahweh tells Isaiah to go meet Ahaz, and to bring Isaiah’s son Shear-jashub. The specified location—by the conduit of the upper pool on the road to the fuller’s field—places the encounter where water infrastructure and city readiness would be in view.
Immediate counsel: calm, not fear Isaiah is to tell Ahaz to watch himself, stay quiet, and not let fear take over. The two threatening kings are pictured as “two tails of smoking firebrands,” suggesting they look dangerous but are already burning down rather than growing stronger.
