Passover at Gilgal Israel is described as camped at Gilgal. First meals from the land’s produce On the day after Passover, they eat from the produce of the land. The foods are named as unleavened cakes and parched (roasted) grain, and the verse stresses the timing by repeating that it happened “that same day.” The narrative highlights a concrete change in diet right after the festival.
Manna stops; land-based eating begins The next day, after they have eaten the land’s produce, the manna ceases. The text states this both positively (it ceased) and negatively (they had manna no more). Literary Context

The passage gives clear timing (“the next day… that same day… the next day”) but does not spell out whether the grain was freshly harvested or already available. Likewise, “that year” can naturally function either as a narrative timestamp or as an emphasis marker, and the text does not explicitly explain why the phrase is added.
This scene frames entry into the land as both covenant memory (Passover kept at the set time) and changed circumstances (manna ends after land food begins).
