Fire offerings are to be brought each of the seven days, and an eighth day is also set apart for a gathering and fire offering; it is called a special assembly, and normal labor is again prohibited.

Which actions are limited to the first day versus the whole week. The text says “take on the first day” the fruit and branches (v. 40), and also says “rejoice…seven days.” Some readers infer the taking of branches is a one-day ritual that sets the week in motion; others infer the items are taken/used throughout the seven days because the rejoicing is seven days long.
The passage compresses multiple instructions into a short space and sometimes states timing once without repeating it for every related action (for example, “on the first day” versus “seven days”). It also uses category words (“solemn assembly,” “holy convocation,” “statute forever”) without explaining every practical detail. That leaves room for different reconstructions of how the week was carried out in practice.
