27:16-18Meaning
Base valuation and time-to-Jubilee adjustment If someone sets apart part of an inherited field to Yahweh, the valuation is pegged to its productive capacity: land that would take a homer of barley seed is valued at fifty shekels of silver (v.16). If the dedication happens right from the Jubilee year, that full valuation stands as-is (v.17). If it happens after Jubilee, the priest reduces the price in proportion to the years remaining until the next Jubilee (v.18).
