Bring the full tithe; test the promise of overflow The people are told to bring “the whole tithe” into the storehouse so there will be food “in my house.” Yahweh then invites them to “prove” him—an explicit challenge to see whether he will respond. The promised response is described in vivid images: he will open “the windows of heaven” and pour out a blessing in such quantity that there will not be enough space to hold it.
Protection from loss in the fields Yahweh promises active intervention against “the devourer,” something that consumes or ruins produce.
