13:24-30Meaning
Wheat and weeds growing together until harvest Jesus says the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sows good seed in his field (v. 24). While people sleep, an enemy secretly sows weeds among the wheat and leaves (v. 25). The problem becomes visible only when the plants mature enough to show their fruit (v. 26). Servants, surprised that bad plants are present despite good seed, ask how it happened (v. 27). The owner attributes it to an enemy (v. 28a). When asked whether to pull the weeds immediately, he refuses because uprooting weeds could also damage the wheat (vv. 28b–29). He orders both to grow together until harvest; then reapers will separate them—first the weeds for burning, then the wheat into the barn (v. 30).
