vv. 18–19
A ruler approaches while Jesus is speaking, reports the girl’s death, and asks Jesus to come and touch her. Jesus rises and follows, with disciples accompanying.
vv. 20–22
A woman with twelve years of bleeding comes from behind and touches the edge of Jesus’ garment, reasoning that contact will make her well. Jesus turns, speaks to her, and the narrative states she is made well.
vv. 23–26
At the house Jesus encounters flute players and a noisy crowd. He tells them to leave because the girl is “sleeping,” is mocked, then takes her hand and she rises; the report spreads through the region.
