The remnant as life-giving blessing Micah says the remnant of Jacob will be “in the midst of many peoples” (Micah 5:7). Micah spoke in Judah during the rise of Assyrian dominance in the late eighth century BC, when smaller kingdoms were pressured by tribute demands, military campaigns, and population movements. In such a world, talk of a “remnant” reflects survival after calamity and displacement, with communities of Israelites living among other peoples. The imagery of being “in the midst of many peoples” fits a setting where conquest, exile, and resettlement could scatter populations, while still leaving a recognizable group identity. The passage imagines this surviving group having a real impact within a larger international environment.

3) How to take v. 9’s “Let…” Some take it as a prayer/wish voiced by the prophet (or the community).
