22:28-30Meaning
The donkey confronts Balaam, and Balaam answers Yahweh enables the donkey to speak, and she asks what she has done to deserve being struck three times. Balaam replies as if her behavior is deliberate humiliation; he says he would kill her if he had a sword. The donkey appeals to their long history: she has carried him his whole life and has not acted like this before. Balaam concedes that her behavior is not her usual pattern.
