25:6Meaning
A public provocation in front of leadership and worship space The verse highlights the suddenness (“Behold”) and the actor (“one of the children of Israel”). He “came and brought” a Midianite woman to “his brothers,” meaning into the community’s shared space. The narrator stresses that this happens openly, “in the sight of Moses” and “in the sight of all the congregation,” not privately. At the same moment, the congregation is “weeping” at the entrance of the tent of meeting, showing the community is already in distress.
