Verses 26–28
Moses is introduced as sent, and Aaron as chosen; the setting is Egypt (“the land of Ham”). Darkness appears as the opening sign.
Verses 29–31
Water is turned to blood and fish die, then frogs spread even into royal chambers. At a spoken command, swarms (flies) and lice fill the territory.
Verses 32–33
Hail and lightning damage vineyards, fig trees, and wider tree cover, depicting major agricultural and economic loss.
Verses 34–36
Locusts/grasshoppers consume remaining vegetation and produce. The sequence culminates in the death of the firstborn, described as the “chief” of strength in the land.
