Ongoing action toward his community
The verse begins with “For,” explaining how Yahweh’s lasting reputation shows up in real time. Yahweh “will judge his people,” meaning he will take up their case and render a decision about them. At the same time, he will have compassion on “his servants,” showing concern and tenderness toward those who belong to him.
Unit 3 (vv. 13–14 together): Enduring identity leads into enduring care
Read together, the two verses connect God’s lasting name with his continuing governance and mercy. The community is meant to see continuity: the God whose renown spans generations is the same God who continues to act for his people now.
