Literary Context
Psalm 15 is shaped like a question-and-answer about who is fit to belong in God’s presence (vv. 1–5). Verse 2 opens the answer with broad, foundational traits before later lines move into specific social behaviors (such as how one uses speech, handles money, and treats neighbors). The logic is cumulative: the psalm does not give one single test but a cluster of traits that together describe a trustworthy person. Verse 2 sets the tone by moving from overall life-pattern (“walks”) to visible practice (“does”) to inward reality (“in his heart”).
