Literary Context
Psalm 15 begins like an entrance question for worship: it asks who can approach and remain in God’s presence, and the rest of the psalm (vv. 2–5) answers by describing the kind of life that matches that nearness. The opening uses two parallel pictures—God’s sanctuary and God’s holy hill—to focus attention on access and ongoing residence, not a brief visit. The logic is simple: the question creates expectation for criteria, and it frames those criteria as about “dwelling” where Yahweh is honored, rather than merely performing a ritual.
