Second, “the angel of Yahweh” (v.7): some take this as a real heavenly messenger who provides protection. Others understand it as a poetic way of describing Yahweh’s protective presence and aid, without insisting on a distinct being in view. The verse’s camping-around imagery supports the idea of ongoing protection either way.
The language is compressed and poetic. “Fears,” “shame,” and “radiant” can name inner experience, outward reputation, or both. Likewise, “angel of Yahweh” can be read as a specific agent or as vivid picture-language for how divine protection feels and functions.
It contributes a pattern: personal testimony (“I…,” “this poor man…”) becomes a general invitation-by-example (“they looked…,” “those who fear him…”).
