Literary Context
Psalm 48 is a Zion song that praises God’s greatness as shown in the security and beauty of Jerusalem. Earlier lines invite listeners to look closely at the city and remember what God has done, so later generations can be told. The psalm moves from public praise of God in the city, to recounting how threats failed, to calling the community to observe and report, and finally to a closing confession. Verse 14 functions as the concluding takeaway: the God known through these events remains “ours” and continues leading beyond the immediate crisis.
