In such a world, someone could “strengthen” himself by alliances, resources, and ruthless tactics. These verses imagine the broader faithful community watching a prominent figure fall and using his story as social memory: an example of what happens when security is built on money and destructive acts rather than on God.

These verses picture a public reaction after a powerful wrongdoer collapses.
