Literary Context
Psalm 62 moves between confidence in God and critique of unstable human supports. Earlier lines emphasize God as the only secure “rock” and “refuge,” contrasting that steadiness with threats, pressure, and the unreliability of people and wealth (see the flow leading into Psalm 62:7). Verse 8 acts like a hinge: what has been asserted about God becomes an invitation for others to join the same posture. The verse is shaped as a short set of commands followed by a reason, and it ends with “Selah,” slowing the pace so the community can absorb and respond.
