2 Timothy / Question
Question source
2 Timothy
Paul uses three images—soldier, athlete, and hardworking farmer—to describe endurance and disciplined effort in 2 Timothy 2:3–6. The soldier avoids entanglement to please the one who enlisted him. The athlete competes according to the rules, and the farmer should be first to share in the crops.
3You therefore must endure hardship, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4No soldier on service entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
5If also a man competes in the games, he is not crowned, unless he has competed by the rules.
6The farmers who labor must be the first to get a share of the crops.
