Romans 5 does not call suffering good in itself. It says that, for those justified by faith, suffering can produce perseverance, proven character, and hope because God's love has been poured into believers' hearts through the Holy Spirit.
Romans 5 begins with peace with God and standing in grace. The chain from suffering to hope belongs inside that grace-shaped assurance, not inside a demand to pretend pain is easy.
A church shaped by this passage supports sufferers with patient hope, not pressure. It can name pain honestly while pointing to God's love and future glory.
should not weaponize Romans 5 against hurting people. Paul is giving hope grounded in God, not minimizing grief.
