Asher’s immediate family and Beriah’s branch Asher’s sons are named, and his sister Serah is included (v. 30). The line then focuses on Beriah’s descendants, naming Heber and Malchiel, with Malchiel identified as the father of Birzaith (v. 31). From Heber come several sons and a sister, Shua, again placing a woman within the family record (v. 32).
Japhlet, Shemer, and Helem lines Japhlet’s sons are listed and the writer explicitly concludes, “These are the children of Japhlet,” marking that sub-branch as complete (v. 33). Next come the sons of Shemer (v. 34). Then the text adds the sons of Helem, identified as Shemer’s brother, showing parallel branches within the same generation (v. 35).
Further descendants through Zophah, Jether, and Ulla Zophah’s sons are named in two waves across vv. 36–37, giving an extended list that widens the Asherite network.
