Verses 7–8
Obadiah recognizes Elijah, falls facedown, and addresses him deferentially; Elijah instructs him to go tell Ahab that Elijah is present (1 Kings 18:7–8).
Verses 9–11
Obadiah protests that this order could get him killed and describes Ahab’s relentless search, including requiring oaths from other jurisdictions that Elijah was not found (1 Kings 18:9–11).
Verses 12–14
Obadiah fears Elijah will vanish again after he leaves, leading to punishment for a failed report. He defends his own record by recalling how he hid prophets and supplied them with food and water during violence at court (1 Kings 18:12–14).
Verses 15–16
Elijah gives a solemn oath that he will present himself to Ahab that day; Obadiah delivers the message, and Ahab goes to meet Elijah (1 Kings 18:15–16).
