2) What changed in v. 7 when Jehoash stopped the priests’ local collection? One reading is that Jehoash removed the priests’ direct control of incoming money to improve accountability. Another reading is more limited: the king did not reject priestly involvement in general, but redirected the specific collection method (“from your acquaintance”) so that funds were formally delivered into a repair channel.
