Literary Context
This verse concludes Moses’ announced warning about the coming blow to Egypt’s firstborn (11:4–8) and leads into the brief note that Pharaoh will still not listen, and that the signs have been multiplied in Egypt (11:9–10). Within the larger exodus story, it stands at the hinge between repeated confrontations and the actual departure narrative in Exodus 12. The verse’s logic highlights a coming change in posture: those aligned with Pharaoh will soon press Israel to leave, not resist it.
