Literary Context
Isaiah 63 moves from a dramatic scene of God’s triumph over hostile powers (63:1–6) into a communal remembrance and appeal (63:7–19). Verse 10 sits inside the remembered storyline: God’s past kindness (63:7–9) is followed by a turning point where the people resist him (63:10), which then sets up later questions about where God’s compassion and strength have gone (63:11–14) and a plea for him to look down and act again (63:15–19). The verse functions as the hinge that explains why the remembered care is no longer being experienced.
