20:20-22Meaning
No rest, nothing left, trouble at the peak Zophar begins with an inner problem: the person “knew no quietness” inside, so he cannot keep what he most enjoyed (v.20). The appetite is pictured as devouring everything, leaving nothing to spare; therefore his prosperity cannot last (v.21). Even when he reaches “fullness” and seems self-sufficient, distress catches him, and the “hand” of the miserable comes upon him (v.22), implying backlash from those harmed or embittered.
