Some emphasize spiritual influence as the main driver; others emphasize Judas’ own intent and treat the devil’s role as intensifying what Judas chooses.
John uses brief time markers (“before Passover,” “during/after supper”) that can be read in more than one way when compared with other accounts of Jesus’ final meal. John also uses compact phrases (“to the end,” “all things”) that carry a range of meaning in ordinary language, and the narrative combines human action and spiritual influence without spelling out how they fit together.
