Verses 27–28: Signal, pursuit, and control of the fords
Ehud sounds a trumpet in Ephraim’s hill country to summon the Israelites, then leads the descent from the highlands. He orders pursuit and Israel takes the Jordan fords opposite Moab, allowing no men to pass.
Verses 29–30: Rout, subjugation, and rest
Israel strikes about ten thousand Moabites, described as robust fighters, and the account stresses that none escape. Moab is subdued under Israel and the land has rest for eighty years.
Verse 31: Shamgar notice
A brief notice credits Shamgar son of Anath with striking down six hundred Philistines using an ox-goad, presenting him as another deliverer in the sequence.
