They moved from Rameses and camped at Succoth, then moved again and camped at Etham, described as being at the edge of the wilderness.
v. 7
From Etham they “turned back” and camped at Pi-hahiroth, located by reference to landmarks (Baal-zephon and Migdol).
v. 8
They depart from before Hahiroth, pass through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, travel three days, and camp at Marah.
vv. 9–12
From Marah they come to Elim (noted for springs and palm trees) and camp there; then they camp by the sea, move into the wilderness of Sin, and continue station by station.
vv. 13–15
They move through additional stations to Rephidim, where there is no water to drink, and then camp in the wilderness of Sinai.
